Category: New Published Work

A fantastical, little villanelle of mine has been picked up by the faerie folk at Goblin Market. You can read it here, if you’re so inclined.

My short essay, “Castoffs,” has just been published at Fried Chicken and Coffee, and I couldn’t be more excited. Many years ago, when I first started writing, the editor, Rusty, rejected a ton of my short stories and essays but always with a word of encouragement. It’s been a minor obsession of mine to get myself published there, and I’m stoked he picked up this piece! Read it here!

STR: V2

A print version of my Pushcart-nominated short story “The Bone Picker” has just been released as part of the anthology Steel Toe Review: Vol. 2.  STR is a literary magazine based in Birmingham, Alabama that focuses on prose, poetry, and art by Southern authors and artists.  And of course, you can get your very own copy here.

After a long wait in limbo, my poem “Cherry Trees and Wooden Teeth” is finally in print in the latest edition of The Raintown Review.  The magazine is print only, and you can get a copy here.  Also, a print version of my story “The Trouble Dogs Get Into” is available now in the League for Innovation’s ReView.  I have two free copies of this.  If you want one, let me know.

Also, I will be reading my super-short poetry collection “But What Will Become of You?” at the  Northwest Undergraduate Conference for Literature in Portland on Saturday, April 13.  Not sure what my time slot is, but I will post it as soon as I know.  Big fun!

New Flash Fiction

“The Bone Picker” has been published by Steel Toe Review, a Birmingham, AL-based literary magazine.  It’s super short, so there’s no reason not to read it here and now!

New Nonfiction!

The Montréal Review has picked up my essay “Visceral Manipulation: Horror and the Essential Conquest of Fear.”  It’s all about scary movies, why people watch them, and why they’re important.  Check it out here.

Also, my short story “The Trouble Dogs Get Into” has taken third nationally for the League for Innovation Award in fiction.  Read it here if you ain’t already.

Indie ‘Zine
